The most direct roads to Javakhk are the highways:

  3. Tbilisi — Bolnisi — Tsalka — Bogdanovka (Ninotsminda) — Akhalkalak — Akhal­­tskha
  4. Batumi — Kutaisi — Khashuri — Akhal­tskha — Akhalkalak — Bogdanovka (Ni­no­ts­minda) — Tsalka

Of these highways the following parts are not in a good condition:

  1. Armenian bondary — Bogdanovka (Ninotsminda) — Akhalkalak — Akhal­tskha

Before you travel to Javakhk it is reasonable to find a local resident guide, who can provide a car (bet­ter a jeep if you plan to visit Alpine villages, too), find accommodation in villages, etc.

Road Reconstruction in Javakhk

In 2006 the American Millennium Challenge Corporation started a major road renovation project in Javakhk. The roads Akhalkalak — Akhaltskha and Bogdanovka (Ninotsminda) — Akhal­kalak already are being reconstructed. When you start your journey to Javakhk some other roads may also be reconstructed.
